Lymphatic Decongestive Therapy

“Up to ten times as much virus reside in the lymph system as in the blood.”

THE PROBLEM…….The most underrated part of the circulatory system in the human body is our lymphatic system.  And sadly, many health-care practitioners rarely consider the critical role lymph plays in preventing sickness and keeping us healthy.  This is a problem for ALL of us.

The lymphatic system is a vital part of our circulatory system:

*Manages the elimination of toxins from our body

It contains over 600 “collection sites” called lymph nodes and has a network of collecting vessels more extensive than the venous system.

Our lymphatic system is primarily responsible for carrying disease-fighting material to cells attacked by germs, transporting the dead germs away and supplying protein-rich plasma fluid back to the heart.  When this system is blocked, we become defenseless against attacks by virus, fungi, and bacteria.

When the lymphatic system is blocked, infection-fighting material is prevented from destroying germs. Cell-nourishing material is prevented from reaching the blood stream.  The end result is that germs grow, our blood loses needed protein, and infectious diseases could potentially affect you!

Lymphatic blockages can result in a swelling at the lymph node junctions.  Dr. Fauci, NIH Allergy and Infectious Disease Center, stated in a recent AIDS study:"

(This condition) results in providing a breeding ground (especially for the HIV virus) for pathogenic material.  The lymph system acts as a reservoir of infection, churning out billions of HIV-infected immune-system cells that eventually spill into the blood stream, where they travel to other parts of the body.  Much later, after enduring years of viral proliferation, the immune system begins to falter, and infectious disease marches in.  “Studies reveal that up to ten times as much virus may reside in the lymph system as in the bloods.”

Most chronic disease problems occur at the junction of lymph vessels called lymph nodes.  You can feel lymph nodes by pressing under the arms, just below the collar bone, or in the crease between the thigh and pelvic area.  When touching these areas, most people will feel small bumps and sometimes pain.  The bumps and pain are symptomatic of blocked lymph nodes.  Blocked lymph nodes indicate a breakdown in the mechanical functioning of the lymphatic system.  As a result, your immune system suffers.

THE SOLUTIONS!

With the burdens many carry in mental emotional and physical stress loads, our lymphatic system needs all the help it can get.  Traditional methods of manual lymphatic stimulation have proven to have success, but there is a better way.  A tool called the LymphStar Pro (or LymphStar)  and a method called the Carter Technique of Lymphatic Drainage are designed to help therapists get better results in less time, with less stress.

The Lymphstar Pro is a tool that will allow the certified user to affect and stimulate neuromuscular systems directly.  The advantages are many.  While most health practitioners concentrate on feeding or elimination, the process of transport (or what is hopefully in-between feeding and elimination) is many times forgotten.  IF nutrients can’t get past the digestive tract and be transported to the area of need, you can supplement until the bank runs dry and all you have is the classic “high-priced stool.”

In our experience, the various manual lymphatic methods available to therapists do a reasonable to good job of opening the surface lymphatics.  The trade off is that the deeper lymphatic channels can become more stressed and engorged with the additional lymph forced into the area.  This can be very detrimental to the improvement we are seeking

Our particular concern to lymph are the thoracic duct and cisterna chyli, which lie beneath the sternum.  This is NOT a place you can reach in to massage.  The 3-part wave of the LYMPHSTAR PRO is able to reach it and help de-congest the area.  Free-flowing lymph is what the body wants and needs.

Of considerable concern to women, and of growing concern for men, is the issue of finding a tender spot or lymph node in the chest or underarm area.  When a lymph node is hard or sore, it is engaged in the warfare of trying to remove toxins or debris from the lymphatic channel so that it can return to its regular job of transporting oxygen, nutrition and waste to its proper site.  It can only do its job if it isn’t blocked!

The LymphStar Pro is able to safely remove blockages so that the nodes are no longer painful.  Remember, we are referring to non-cancerous issues.  Cancer should only be treated by a qualified physician. But how much healthier will your immune system be when it is able to function as normally as possible?

Not to be overlooked is the valuable asset the LymphStar Pro can be in neuromuscular modalitites.  The simple but effective use of the LymphStar Pro in stressed or injured muscle cases causes reduction in the danger of secondary injury by excess lymph buildup.  It keeps fluid moving rather than stagnating thereby reducing swelling and edema.  In the post-surgical setting this can facilitate the transportation of wastes from the trauma site, promoting faster healing.
